Dates: 24-26 March, 2009
Path Toward Intimacy was a three-day workshop in March 2009 hosted by the Implementation and Social Outreach Division (ISOD) of DIIFSD and led by Dr. Wei-Jen Huang from Northwestern University. When previously conducted for both professional counselors and general audiences in the U.S., Canada, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore, Path Toward Intimacy received rave reviews.
The course was designed for all of those interested in enhancing the quality of relationships with their loved ones as well as for caring people simply wanting to help others. The workshop was based on state-of-the-art empirical research of intimate relationships and integrated important insights and effective treatment ingredients from some of the best relationship curriculums from both the East and West. Major themes of the workshop included Depth Psychology of Love, Attachment, Emotional Safety and Meaningful Connections, Effectively Managing Differences and Conflicts, Intentionally Strengthening Friendship and Intimacy, Gender Relationship, Family of Origin Issues, Emotional Intelligence Training, Forgiveness and Loving Actions, and more. The workshop focused both on insights and conceptualization as well as on practical skills and experiential learning, with the goal of helping people develop insights into the complexity of intimate relationships, enhance emotional health, and bring healings into their own relationships and to the large number of lives they touch.
