The Second Annual Conference on Family Research and Policy

"The Impact of Wars and Conflicts on Arab Families"

Monday 17th October —Tuesday 18th October, 2016
Doha, Qatar

Overview of the Conference

Building on the success of its first Annual Conference on Family Research and Policy, the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) is organizing its second conference under the heading, “The Impact of Wars and Conflicts on Arab Families”.

In recent years, a number of Arab countries have suffered from wars and conflicts spanning the region, causing considerable social upheaval. At DIFI, we believe that the family, as declared by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 16/3, is the natural and fundamental unit of society, and that it is entitled to protection by society and the state. At no time is this recognition more important than during periods of conflict, such as those we are witnessing across many parts of the Arab world. This year’s conference explores these wars and conflicts and their impacts on Arab families.
